About

Welcome to my little corner of the internet. I’m Gianna. Can I get you anything?

If not, I’ll just get into it. I love lots of things — most notably: people, music, and food, but what person in their right mind doesn't? I love making things (hey, I made this little ol’ thing to celebrate all the other little ol’ things I made, didn’t I?), talking to strangers, unabashedly dancing in public, eating, writing birthday letters (not just cards — i repeat, letters!), and calling my grandma. That’s me in a nut shell. You can often find me documenting moments and the people that belong to them through films, photographs, and scribblings. I paint a lot, edit a lot, read a lot, get approached a lot to take tourist-y photos, make lots of playlists, and bake cookies for any and all occasions. I sometimes dabble in spoken word poetry (a lot of bits never leave my voice memos, I’ll admit). I’m super passionate about equity reforms in America’s public education systems and learning about how people think and learn — if you’re interested, I’m documenting my learnings here!

This is the part where people usually go into third person, because talking about yourself all day can get exhausting. I’ll leave ya to it!

Gianna is currently looking for her next thing. She was previously working on Special Projects at On Deck, where she served as white glove support for founders, built infra for founder requests, conducted lots of both qualitative and quantitative user research, managed community launches, wrote comms, and fell into plenty of rabbit holes whilst undergoing strategic market research. Prior to that, she was a Learning Experience Associate at On Deck and an early employee at Laika (now a Series B compliance-as-a-service startup). She graduated from Northwestern University where she studied Cognitive Science with a concentration in Learning and Instruction, as well as Computer Science and Data Science. She is constantly learning about the world around her and looking for more opportunities to do so.

If you would like more information about things she’s done outside of this portfolio, here’s her resume. If you would like to work with her, drop her an email at giannachan99@gmail.com. The email’s also there in case you would like to tell her a joke or story, rant to her about your troubles and passions, or hear her opinion on something. She’s all ears!
